Residential Program

The Gateless Gate Zen Center provides dedicated practitioners of Kwan Um Zen with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a life of dedicated study, practice, and service to the community.

Individuals interested in the residential program need to have met the following minimum qualifications:

• You must be a dues-paying member of the Kwan Um School of Zen.
• You must have participated in at least two two-day retreats in the Kwan Um School of Zen tradition.
• You must have completed an interview with the Abbot and/or one of the Guiding Teachers.
• You must have a professional license, two year degree, or currently be enrolled in school.
• You must pay a key deposit, security deposit, and first and last month’s training fees.

Note that if an applicant can not meet all of these criteria, exceptions can be made at the Abbot’s discretion.
